To say today had a good start would be a vast understatement.
You woke up feeling untouchable, as if even a bullet wouldn’t be able to take away the triumphant aura you exuded around everyone on your way to responsibly prepare for the mission.
You were smiling ear to ear in the training range; gunning down bots like a particularly happy paperboy delivering the newspapers. Neon definitely felt that something was off. But it wasn’t the fact that you weren’t an anxiety-ridden mess, no. What concerned her was how good your aim was, and especially how calm you were with how you wielded your weapon. It was contagious.
She stood next to you and crossed her arms, speaking loudly to counteract how deafening the shots were.
“Someone’s happy today.”
You shrugged and continued shooting.
“It’s just a good day, you know? Clear weather, chill vibes and everything.”
Neon raised an eyebrow. With the upcoming mission, she herself was prepared to reassure you on how things would go as smoothly as they did last time. But this? This attitude was as natural as catching sight of a flying pig.
“Alright, lay it all out, A/N. You were gone all day yesterday.”
She forced a blush out of you with just those words, and prompted you to stop shooting for a moment. There was no reason for you not to tell her. Well, except for one…
“It’s not like you’d believe me.”
“Don’t be like that, when have I ever doubted you?”
She said with one hand on your shoulder, completely confident in her words. And you could make an entire list in response to that. A sigh escaped you before you finally managed to meet her gaze.
“Fine. I may or may not have gone out with Yoru yesterday.”
Neon paused for a moment. Then, she snickered, as if you told her you’d won the lottery.
“Be honest. I’ll be impressed with whatever it really is.”
“I’m not joking, Neon!”
“No way, Yoru doesn’t go out with people two consecutive days in a row, I tried!”
Sounds like something she’d do, alright. Just as you went to throw a snarky response at her, you jumped once she gasped in the most diva way possible and forcefully tilted your Bulldog upwards.
There, she saw it.
“What is this?”
Neon called out as if she spotted a bomb. In fact, she scared you, until you realised she was pointing at your prized gift from the day before. She tilted the gun to get a better angle and held the omamori in her hand to make sure it was what she thought it was.
“There’s no way– is that from Yoru?!”
You flushed and pulled it away, swiftly turning on the safety considering how stupid of a move this was.
“I told you, dummy!”
“I didn’t think– did he give that to you or did you sneak into a shrine? There’s no way you got that, right?”
You allowed her to take your gun to inspect it. And with just a few touches, she confirmed that it was an omamori only he’d get.
“I’m serious, he gave it to me!”
“How?! I've known him for months and I can barely get a text back sometimes!”
Which is why you couldn’t wait until the mission to finally not have something go wrong for once. Nevertheless, you innocently shrugged and tucked a lock of your hair behind your ear in the most smug manner possible.
“Oh, well, you know. I guess some of us are naturally irresistible.”
“What-ever.”
Neon crossed her arms and pouted for a moment. But then, she met your gaze with a devious glimmer in her eyes once a brand new idea popped up. Uh oh.
“Sooo… did he cook you something this morning? Anything delicious for breakfast?”
“I woke up late.”
She clicked her tongue, before getting back to the main task at hand.
“Okay fine. When he does, which he will, you wouldn’t mind, you know… sneaking some for your best friend, right?”
You couldn’t hold back the giggle that escaped you. Of course Neon would request something preposterous like this. Why wouldn’t she?
“Ease up, Neon. Too early. We’re still just friends, remember?”
“We’re almost a month in and you still don’t know how Yoru’s world works? If he feeds you, he’s basically proposing!”
You definitely knew, but you weren’t about to admit that. She began shooting with your Bulldog as each of you spoke, almost as if to emphasise the fact you had an omamori tied to the gun.
“That’s a reach.”
“Why’s that? It’s not like you’d say no if he does.”
“Pshh. As if you know that.”
Neon tossed your Bulldog back to you, before grabbing your wrist and forcing you to get a good look at the roots. Only now did you notice how organised and easy-to-digest they were, as if they were sets upon sets of cables that unwrapped from each other. No wonder why it felt like your arm was easier to have.
“This wasn’t here before!”
Your eyes widened as you took the sight in. And for once, it looked organised.
“Wait– when the hell did this happen?”
“You didn’t notice this?!”
You flushed and pulled away as Neon laughed. But since you were a simple tee, you couldn’t really cover up your arm.
Before she could somehow sneak in one more snarky remark about how unfocused you were, the door to the training range loudly slid open and caught both of your attention. Your eyes promptly darted to the entrance. The strong light from behind shone upon a silhouette that took you a moment to recognise.
But if the imposingly tall stature didn’t help with that, his voice surely did.
“Excusez-moi, not to interrupt a pleasant conversation, but we have to leave.” <Excuse me,>
Chamber called out, earning a sneer from Neon. One that you unfortunately didn’t see.
“Leave? Wait, what time is it?”
“One.”
Your eyes widened.
“Crap. Okay, talk later Neon! Don’t forget to wait for me until I’m back!”
You quickly reloaded your Bulldog and rushed towards him. Neon excitedly waved as you moved through the doorway with the same grin on her face.
“I’ll be waiting, break a leg out there!”
She said, earning a nod before you disappeared down the hallways. With Yoru’s omamori in hand, you thought, you hoped it wouldn’t be your leg that would break.
You moved down the halls with Chamber by your side, inspecting your weapon one final time.
“Man, time flew by so fast. It feels like I haven’t even trained. Also, am I late?”
Chamber chuckled, his polite laughter echoing through the hall just as much as the clicks of his dress shoes did. You couldn't tell whether or not he was mad. But from the looks of things, he seemed... unamused.
“Late enough for Brimstone to send me to get you. Was your phone off, by any chance?”
Uh oh.Your face turned red. And immediately, you began fiddling with your bracelet. Crap, he mentioned your phone; did they send you a bunch of messages that you didn't see?!
“Oh, sorry. I– I left my phone back in my room…” You awkwardly smiled, feeling a bit more embarrassed. “I’m making a terrible first impression on you, huh? Sorry about that…”
“No need for an apology, A/N. I completely understand. It must be exciting, non? Your first mission with a team.”
Chamber noted with a smile as he fixed his tie.
“Ah, to be young, innocent, and on my first mission again.”
You couldn't help but smile. His voice was calm. Just the stagnant tone of it could put you to sleep if he just spoke long enough. With everything else, there's no way he wasn’t one of the higher-ups, right?
“So you’re Chamber, right? I heard you’re an expert. Does that mean they’ll bring you on the other side?”
He shrugged and put both hands behind his back as he walked.
“That is a contingency I cannot predict. Personally, I would hope otherwise.”
“Why not? Fighting yourself sounds like fun. Speaking of, now I’m curious about how you are on the field.”
“I admire your optimism. That being said, if I were you, A/N, I would stay far, far away from my double.”
You paused to process what he said.
What did he mean by that? But just as you formed an answer to that question, Chamber stopped in his tracks, and only now did you notice that you had finally arrived at your destination. You stopped as well once you made your way through the doorway. It felt like the voices of your colleagues were drowned out during the conversation, for some reason.
“Ah, here we are. Now, as I was saying, keep that attitude up, and I guarantee nothing less than an excellent performance from you.”
He said with the same smile he had the entire conversation.
“Best of luck to you.”
And with that, Chamber took his leave and left you with your thoughts like nothing happened.
“Thanks…”
You mumbled, before quickly looking around in order to distract yourself from what he just said. Luckily for you, however, you spotted Omen in the far right corner of the area, both his arms crossed as he listened to Sage ramble on about something.
Quickly, you made your way towards them.
❤ฺ·。
The place you've arrived at looked vastly different from the pictures you'd seen beforehand. But, to be fair, you looked at it for a picosecond before leaving for more, ahem, 'important' matters. Once the aircraft landed, you stepped out with the rest and prepared yourself for the sand that might enter your eyes, recalling which site you were supposed to be in.
But before any of you could actually move to where you needed to be, you immediately found Brimstone standing in front of all of you.
"Alright, let's get one thing out of the way. How many of you read the brief?"
You proudly lifted your hand.
"I did!"
"Me too."
Yoru chimed in, and the both of you earned a nod before he turned to look at Omen and...
"Phoenix, buddy, you're coming with me."
The Englishman’s eyes widened.
"Woah woah, why me? Why would you assume I haven't read it?"
"Have you?"
Brim asked with a raise of his brow, and Phoenix quickly let out an awkward chuckle whilst he scratched his head. Omen, unlike the two of you, minded his own business and proceeded to walk to his designated site.
"Well, I didn't read read it, but I skimmed over it. Still counts, right?"
Brim walked off to A site right behind Omen, and Phoenix promptly followed behind.
"That's still more progress than last time! Wait, Brim, just hear me out, fam! How come Raze never gets in trouble for it?"
You giggled to yourself before moving to your site: B.
While you walked, you extended your arm and took in the sight all over again. Seeing the roots so organised felt like such a breath of fresh air. Not only that, but being able to feel it without it mimicking the sensation of being trapped in a deep maze of a forest.
A shade of deep blue caught your eye, and you lifted your chin to see Yoru standing next to the doorway with his Sheriff in hand. You hadn't noticed him walking off during the feud between Brim and Phoenix.
"Testing out a new look?"
You playfully rolled your eyes.
"Mind you, this is your fault."
"Tch. Then no wonder it looks good."
There he was, the confident Yoru you knew and probably loved.
"You're too confident for someone who got all red over a hug."
Yoru chuckled. Just as you took another step forward, he spoke up once more.
"You okay?"
"Uh, yeah, of course I am. Why?"
"Just asking..."
This time, his tone was much more... you couldn't really put your finger on it. Despondent? You noticed his awkward stance. His shoulders were tense, and his eyes had this odd glimmer in them.
...
Oh.
"Are you talking about the last mission?"
"I didn't say anything."
"I'm serious, Yoru. If I can't be ready now, then I'll never be."
He shrugged and walked through the doorway to which you promptly followed from behind.
"I know."
His path was curt once he felt a tug at his sleeve, and he looked behind to see you gently holding his wrist.
"Hey, dinner after?"
Yoru stared at you for a few seconds and fought the blush that crept up on him. Then, he shook his head.
"Save it for next week. I need to rejuvenate."
"Rejuvenate?"
"Introvert thing."
A set of familiar beeping echoed from window. And it wasn't only a few seconds later until an explosion took its place, grabbing both of your attention. Definitely Raze. Even you knew that.
"That's our queue. See you around."
Before another word could be exchanged, Yoru tore the fabric open and disappeared into the ocean of blue he called a dimension. But you couldn't help but let your thoughts roam as you moved near the radianite crates stacked on top of each other.
Having been around Yoru enough to make him come out of his shell, you knew when he was uncomfortable or not. And he sounded like he held something back. Did you do something wrong? Was it the date earlier? Did you push things too far?!
You mumbled an 'ow' once you picked at your bracelet too hard, a ting of pain following the scratch. In order to distract yourself, the radio was muted and you hesitantly called out your situation.
'Uh– Raze on B.'
Enough anxiety, you had a mission to get to. Evident by the rapid footsteps that came from long. You immediately took position and held out your arm, lightly twisting each root until you found the right one to slow down their push. Since they were now untangled and you were calm, it was exceptionally easy to navigate the maze that used to be your arm. Not the scent, not the hand… You paused once you felt a peculiar one.
The bomb.
Just as you heard the footsteps switch from a sandy ground to a wooden one, a burst of sundew escaped your arm and immediately landed where they would have stepped if they didn't push themselves back.
The roots stuck themselves on the ground and prevented them from entering.
Perfect.
You held up your gun and diligently watched the angle in case they'd start to get bold.
'Any updates?'
Brimstone asked over the radio. You were so focused that you'd completely tuned everything out, so you jumped once he spoke. Yoru unmuted.
'They're not committing. Probably a distraction.'
You were surprised at this. Despite the ruckus, he seemed confident in this assumption.
'Good call. Then we're staying here. Think you can hold your own out there, kid?'
'Yeah. We just need smokes.'
The blast echoed on Yoru's side made you wince. Luckily for you, he muted and spared you the inevitable ringing in your ears.
And it only took a few seconds before a purple mist emerged right where you were aiming, shielding you from the bullets that would promptly be fired. Combined with Yoru's call, you could now tell they were shooting at random.
Some time had passed since that ‘attack’.
Despite what you thought was a hard push earlier, Yoru was ultimately right in the end and they'd aggressively pushed out on A, forcing Yoru to rotate. You, however, decided to go from behind. The distant gunfire took over your ears and unintentionally helped shield your footsteps as you moved. Then, it stopped and a heavy thud followed.
"Yo, I got the spike!"
Phoenix proudly called out over the radio. But before you could hear who responded to him, you immediately tuned it all out and focused in on the steps right around the corner. You were in bath, and there was clearly someone who wasn't paying attention to you. In the words of Neon, 'easy pick'. Or whatever she used to say.
Then, the sound of the teleporter went off and concealed you even further. Just as he took his final shot and stepped back to reload, you held out your arm and began twisting a specific set of roots to emit a strong scent. You knew you'd started to do something right once he began to cough into his elbow. And with a deep breath, you mentally prepared yourself to get your first kill.
You peeked and began shooting, refusing to let your finger off the trigger until the Bulldog ran out of bullets. And... you did it.
Gekko's dead.
A huff escaped you once you took a step back, reloading with incredibly shaky hands. Your eyes were stuck on the omamori as you worked. You got your first kill.
The teleporter going off twice snapped you out of your trance, before the voice of Yoru took over your ear on the radio.
"Who's in bath?"
"It was me, I got the pick on Gekko."
You said with a shaky yet excited voice. Now you started to understand why Neon spoke like that sometimes.
"Finally got a kill? Nice one."
You couldn't help but smile at this.
"Chamber's stuck in hall with the spike. It's only us here. If we can draw him out, one of us can get an easy kill."
You peeked to see the spike sitting right in front of the teleporter. And if you looked closely, you could see a golden glint reflected off of him. Probably the tattoos on his head. Yoru was backsite. With all of this in mind, a plan immediately popped up.
"Stay there, I'll lure him out."
"Got it."
You stood near the doorway and already knew which root to aim for before you even lifted your arm. A shadow slowly emerged from above and blocked the glimmer.
Then, the air stopped.
Just as the building he was in buckled under its own weight, Chamber peeked, shot then disappeared into the teleporter with the spike. It took you a moment to look down on your hand and realise that there was a hole on your palm, blood slowly pooling around the wound and escaping.
❤ฺ·。
Everything felt like a blur at that point. Noises were drowned out, your mind drew blanks and your eyes were focused on only your hand.
Warmth slowly began to encircle your right shoulder. And like a virus, it began spreading in a line across the inside of your arm, red fluid continuously seeping out of the 'small' wound on your palm. It took what felt like a few minutes to comprehend the fact that he hit his shot almost perfectly. So perfectly, it went through your arm and tore your roots apart.
Then, you realised that the odd deafening noise around you had been reduced to a mere rumble. But once you looked up, the explanation was immediately provided. The exit was blocked by what seemed to be the building you ripped apart before he took his shot.
You couldn't move your right arm whatsoever.
You felt a pull on your chin. And before you knew it, you were looking right at a familiar set of brown eyes.
"Hey, hey, look at me, are you okay?"
How did he get here... so fast?
"Y– yeah, I'm good, I..."
The centre of your right shoulder felt so heavy now, as if the bullet inside now began increasing in weight. You still haven't been able to comprehend the fact you were shot. Yoru, however, wasn't in a state of shock like you were.
"We need to get you to Sage."
"We have to run to B."
You both said at the same time, and you earned a dirty look from him.
"Yoru, It's fine. It doesn't hurt."
"You're bleeding."
"It's not important! Look, let's take care of the spike first, then we can get to my arm. The teleporter's just outside!"
"We're not going–"
"I'll be good, it's not like it hurts, anyway!"
Before he could get another word in, you immediately moved through the entrance from behind and walked as fast as you could towards the teleporter. Yoru followed from behind despite his ability to disappear into the rift. You weren't lying when you said it didn't hurt. But that, unfortunately, was before the adrenaline had worn off. And you hadn't realised such a fact.
Now that a moment had passed, with each step you took, it felt like you were exerting more and more energy just to get to your destination. You stopped just a few feet next to the would-be teleporter to catch your breath. What you hadn't noticed was that it was blocked by so much rubble, it was impossible to get through even if you wanted to.
You lifted a hand towards the wreckage and began sifting through the remains of roots you had to clear an entrance. But no matter how much you tried, you couldn't locate any points for what you needed. It was as if the roots Chamber sliced stripped you away of your powers completely.
Yoru held your chin and noticed the tinge of blue that painted your lips. That wasn't to mention how deathly pale you were, even more than you naturally were.
"You're losing too much blood."
You weakly shoved his hand away.
"Don't do that..."
Yoru rolled his eyes. And since you forgot who you were dealing with, you were to pay the price. He slipped a hand under your legs and one behind your back, exploiting your weakened state to easily lift you in his arms.
"Get– let me go!"
You tried to push him away whilst he moved back, to no avail. And just moving your good arm left you exhausted. Combined with the sudden aching that overtook your right one, it felt like you were stabbing yourself from the inside over and over.So you rested your head on his shoulder and let him take you...
...
Where was he going again...?
"You, you wouldn't let anyone do this to you..."
"I wouldn't have used my abilities out in the open–"
He snapped back, before he caught himself and cleared his throat.
"I'm... sorry. You're right, I wouldn't."
Yoru sighed. Then, completely unprompted, he let out a whispered cuss under his breath.
"I should've taken the chance when I had it."
"Huh...?"
"Nevermind."
You felt the hot afternoon sun shine upon you once Yoru moved through the doorway, before he stopped out of nowhere. You took it upon yourself to lift your heavy eyelids and look at what was in front of you.
The wreckage from A went through the teleporter, enough to block the entrance to the fight. And it was as if Yoru knew what ran through your mind just by the way your foot twitched.
"We'll be fine."
You heard a bullet whizz by each of you from behind. Luckily, Yoru dodged it and immediately moved towards the rubble, allowing the walls to conceal you. He set you on the sand and took out his weapon.
"I'll be back. Try to hold out until then, A/N."
You quickly grabbed his sleeve.
"Wait– don't, don't leave me here, let me help!"
"I can't let you get hurt twice."
"But Sage can bring me back, I can still–"
Yoru got on one knee and held your shoulders.
"I'm not letting you get hurt. Don't make me repeat myself."
You stared at him for a few seconds. Despite your blurry vision and all of the noise from the fight deafening you, you could see the look in his eyes. His irises swam with vulnerability.
"You're not giving up, huh...?"
He stared at you and let the tense silence be your answer. But just as he went to stand up once more, you pulled him back and pressed your lips against his forehead.
"I'm so lucky to have you."
Yoru, stunned, simply blushed and weakly smiled.
"I... could say the same thing."
He caressed your cheek with his thumb, before finally standing up and digging his hand through the rift.
You closed your eyes in order to gather all of the energy that you could. And judging by the constant ringing in your ear combined with the repetitive beeping, it sounded like the spike had been planted. You put your left hand on the nearby stack of crates, helping yourself up. The omamori on your Bulldog caught your eye, its green colour shining brilliantly against the dullness that surrounded you. It almost worked in pulling you out of your dizzy state.
Your eyes locked on the rubble whilst you caught your breath. There must be a way to get through this. But how? Your roots were sliced from within.
You held out your incredibly shaky arm towards the entrance and took a deep breath in an effort to calm down and outline exactly what remained. Scent couldn't be produced and you couldn't squash anything either. That left you with… You perked up once you noticed one single root that was still connected.
The bomb. The bomb was still there!
It wasn't much, but you had to get creative with it. You took a few steps back and leaned on the wall, aiming towards the rubble. Then, you shot.
A burst of sundew immediately stuck to it like ducklings to their mother. You then rushed to grab it with both hands, and, despite the ever increasing pain, you pulled on it as hard as you could. The sundew refused to let go. In fact, it stuck to it even more, which pulled the rubble with it. And the more you struggled, the more it held on.
The next thing you knew, you were on the ground once you'd finally pulled out the massive brick the sundew was attached to. This set off a domino effect.
You grabbed the Bulldog and rushed behind cover as the wreckage began to tumble over. Sand upon sand covered the air and the noise from this move split your ears for what felt like minutes.
Then... silence. The dust had settled.
You weakly clutched your Bulldog and leaned on the wall whilst you walked to the now-clear entrance.
The fight could be seen through the open window. And so could the spike, surrounded by fire and being defused by Phoenix. The rest were clearly holding off someone in garden alongside Yoru who was behind them. He was only halfway through, and there were only a few seconds before the bomb would go off, judging by the black aura and the unnatural impact it had on the area around it. Victory should be guaranteed...
But that was until you noticed Sova near the doorway who aimed his bow and arrow, ready to shoot a dart. One dart, stall them and that would give the bomb the time it needed to explode. They didn't see him. It seems like he didn't see you, either.
Before he let go, you took aim and immediately began shooting, the bullets rapidly digging through him. It took only one more for you to take his life.
The Englishman immediately met your gaze and said something with a wave of his hand, but his words fell on deaf ears since all you could hear was the pounding of your heart. You huffed and stood up, taking a few steps back to lean against a nearby wall. The Bulldog fell out of your grip, and the omamori's gentle green colour was defiled with the trail of blood that continuously seeped out of you.
Then, it all went dark.
❤ฺ·。
You awoke from your deep slumber with not only a raging headache, but with an arm so sore it felt like it was only one wrong more away from melting off of your shoulder. Almost completely driven by instinct, you immediately sat up and clutched your head, a gentle voice adjacent to you immediately reacting to such a move.
"Oh, A/N, try not to move too fast–!"
The pain set in just as Sage held your shoulders, and you mumbled an 'ow'. It felt like the blood inside your body was swirling and sloshing inside you as it got used to the sudden movement.
"Ah, really...? I turned my back on you for one second..."
"Sorry... First mission, and stuff."
"Don't start with that, you did great! Two kills on your first mission is something to be proud about!"
You ran your fingers through your hair and began gently rubbing your head, the ringing in your ear slowly dissipating. It took you a moment to comprehend what she said. But once she did, guilt quickly set in.
"Thanks... Yo, I wasn't too bothersome to revive, was I?"
"Revive? No, you didn't die, you didn't die at all! You've been out for two hours, you actually survived!"
You didn't believe her, despite the wide grin on her face. Probably trying to save you the embarrassment of dying on your first mission.
"Totally..."
"I'm not joking!" she smiled tenderly and clasped both hands together, "Ah, I– I know this sounds hard to believe, but you truly did."
"Let me get this straight, you're saying Chamber tore all my roots and I survived?"
"Not just your roots, A/N; he tore a few of your arteries as well and you still made it! It was miraculous!"
She placed a finger on her chin once a new piece of information popped up.
"Now that I think about it, theoretically, you should have passed out thirty seconds afterwards. Hypotension is no joke."
You paused once you caught something from the corner of your eye. On a nearby counter right next to the sink was your trusty little Bulldog, the familiar omamori still tied to it. Unfortunately, it was soaked in blood. And you swore you could see that it was torn, as well.
Huh...
"Really...? Maybe my luck's really turning over this time."
"Possibly. On another note, if this happens again, I might have to put 'durable' in your files."
She winked playfully.
"Seriously? Wait, no, Brimstone might–"
You heard two knocks before the door behind you swung open, revealing two very familiar silhouettes. Neon and Yoru solemnly stood near the doorway, a serious expression very unnatural for your Filipino friend to have.
But once she noticed that you were awake, her eyes glimmered with an abundance of joy.
"A/N!"
Uh oh.
Before you could prepare yourself, you were already pulled into a hug that put all the aching in your arm to shame. She hugged you even tighter (and knocked the air out of you for good measure) before finally pulling away.
"A/N, you're alive!"
"I'll... leave you three to talk. Erm, Neon?"
"Huh?"
"Brimstone?"
"Wha– oh! Oh come on, she just woke up! Can't you tell him to give me a few minutes, at least?"
Sage sheepishly smiled, both hands behind her back.
"I'm sorry... This'll take just a few seconds, okay?"
With a loud groan, Neon decided to follow the healer with an immense amount of reluctance. But you couldn't let her go without some reassurance.
"I'll catch you later, Neon!"
"I know you will!"
The door slammed shut and they disappeared. You wanted to ask Yoru what that was all about; but you had a much better idea in mind.
"I– I wanted to–"
Just as Yoru looked back, he found himself pulled into another embrace. This one, however, didn't cause him immense pain.
"Missed you."
You mumbled. And to say Yoru was speechless would be a vast understatement. His mind drew blanks at such a sudden move, despite it not being the first time. And all he could really do in response was put one hand on your back.
"You... Um, you had me worried back there, you know?"
The words mindlessly escaped his mouth, but he didn't really do much to stop it.
"Really?"
"Yeah..."
He quickly cleared his throat before he continued.
"Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm impressed you got Sova. I don't know how you got through the rubble."
You pulled away with an unamused expression.
"I– I thought you died back there."
"You need to expect more from me, dummy."
He blushed and rolled his eyes.
"I said don't take this the wrong way, 'dummy'."
You glanced at the omamori on the counter behind him, but promptly looked back so that he wouldn't catch on.
"So, uh, speaking of dying... Where do you get omamoris again? Shrines?"
"Yeah."
"Are you going there any time soon?"
You tried to be discreet about it, but somehow, he still caught on and looked back to see what your eyes kept darting to. And he saw your weapon, the omamori you spoke of gently resting on top of it.
"Huh, it's torn?"
"Yeah."
A meek smile forced itself on your lips as he walked towards the Bulldog and picked it up. Damp with your own coagulated blood, and torn open just as you thought.
"Sorry about that."
"What do you mean? It's a good thing."
Despite scrutinising it, Yoru didn't sound as bothered as you did. In fact, he sounded pleased.
"This means it did its job."
You perked up at this, but you caught yourself before you did anything impulsive.
"So... remember when you mentioned dinner?"
"Totally. You said no."
Yoru nervously cleared his throat.
"Yeah, I, um, I remember. And I don't want to miss my chance this time."
"Miss your chance?"
"I don't like it when people get all up in my business. But you know what?" He pulled you close by the waist. "Maybe it's not so bad when you do it."
You snickered.
"You're just saying that because I almost died."
A mischievous smile painted his previously callous features. No matter how much he tried, flirting just wasn't Yoru's thing. That much you could tell. But teasing definitely was.
"Fine, guess I'll ask Sage to join me for the date I had in mind."
The word 'date' immediately snatched your attention.
"Wait. Okay, fine, let's hear it. What's the idea?"
"Hanami's coming up and... I haven't celebrated with another person in a while. Wanna join me?"
Hanami? That's right, it was the first of May; the trees must've bloomed already, and the celebration must've started. You beamed at this and completely disregarded your sore arm.
"Is it just the two of us?"
"Tch, yeah. I have a good spot booked and everything. There's this one old lady that sells the best dango, I'm thinking of going to her again this year. If, um, again, you don't have to, but–"
You gently elbowed him with your good arm. Even then, he could barely feel the pain you intended him to feel.
"Don't say that, yes I am. We're going. Where's the spot?"
"Don't you need a minute to rest?"
You proudly gestured to yourself.
"I'm well rested. Don't I look like it?"
Yoru stared at you for a few seconds.
You looked dishevelled. It was natural for someone who danced with death mere hours ago, but the confidence you radiated made it look like it was just the wind after a pleasant jog up a hill. He couldn't help but agree, and that was made obvious from the slight shimmer in his usually narrow eyes.
"If you say so."
You moved towards him.
"So, where's the spot?"
"Kitanomaru park–"
The words were lodged in his throat once you took his hand in yours, pulling him out of the patient room and into the hallways. If you keep walking down this hallway, you'll eventually pass by someone who'll see you both like this. But he worked to convince himself that he didn't really mind...
You met his gaze with a warm smile, before pulling him close to you.
"That sounds amazing."
Just the thought of spending the day with Yoru on that river sounded like some kind of paradise only few would achieve. Fortunately, you were one of the 'few', and you were about to enjoy it as much as possible.
You knew what that day would entail, and you were ready for it.

Meeting Yoru Headcanons =͟͟͞͞➳❥

Enemies to Lovers~
Set-Up
There was another rumor of a “rouge radiant” going around. It didn’t seem like much but then they began causing more trouble, causing KAY/O to get involved.
It’s better for someone small like KAY/O to handle jobs like this!
Then KAY/O came back but not in one piece. He was almost completely destroyed! Isn’t KAY/O supposed to…kill all of his opponents!?
Sova volunteered to gather intel and within a day's notice, he was able to pinpoint the location of the Radiant. Brimstone instructed that since they were unable to eliminate the Radiant, they should attempt to recruit them and make them a part of Valorant.
Yoru did not like this plan at all! He believed that he could successfully take out the Radiant and there was no need to turn tell and beg for recruitment! He’s not a coward.
Against Brimstone’s wishes, he pursued the Radiant on his own with Sova’s intel. His rift walking ability made it 100x easier getting to them.
They were held up at an abandoned facility that was revealed to have been hoarding Radianite. Very common these days.
It gave him a false sense of confidence although he did not know it yet.
This radiant turned out to be one of the most dangerous people he has ever encountered!!
Whenever Yoru would try to rift walk or teleport he would get grabbed and punished with a punch or kick to his body. Anytime he was able to line up a good shot on something he thought was a figure, the bullets would pass through like a cloud and hit the wall.
He was almost about to admit his defeat for probably the first time in his life. He thought he would die until…
“You’re bleeding…?”
The voice was soft and feminine.
They revealed themselves from the shadows. It was a woman. Her radiant power seemed to have something to do with shadows and can counter inter-dimensional powers.
The two of you hit it off immediately! You ended up becoming a recruit for Valorant and Yoru’s punishment for disobeying specific orders was for you to work under him. Embarrassing, right?
“My name is (y/n).”
Despite your criminal activity, you were a sweetheart and it only made Yoru’s defeat that much more to tease him about. It kinda made him hate you but you saw through this Tsundere nature!
HEADCANONS
Even though he wanted nothing to do with you, you still followed him everywhere. You were raised with love so you felt really bad about beating him up. You explained to him that you thought he was another KAY/O bot and got scared. He didn’t care, though. You make him look like a fool? You die.
(Except you were a part of the team now and he couldn’t kill you. So he settled with showing off in front of you whenever he could.)
Him "showing off" had the wrong effect on you. You were supposed to be intimidated and regret what you did to him like it was just luck that you won but you were actually always impressed by him!
“Wow, Yoru! That was so good.”
“Leave it to Yoru! He can do it.”
Then it began to get a little more personal.
“Yoru, can you please flank with me on this upcoming mission? Brimstone has me over here but I don’t want to be by myself…”
Normally, he would decline but ever since you got here, you’ve just been stroking his ego so much! The other agents would cringe at his “showing off” but you didn’t. He appreciated that but would never admit that to you.
On your end, you were just so grateful that you weren’t being baited into being arrested! You also thought that Yoru was really skilled and smart at his work and you would tell him all the time that you appreciated his shadowing while on the job.
Yoru doesn’t fully realize he enjoys having you as his biggest fan when you briefly get paired with someone else. Out of all people, it had to be his rival, Phoenix.
“Wow! That was a great flash!”
Not only would you praise him, but Phoenix would also sometimes flirt with you. It just made Yoru so sick. The other agents began to notice Yoru’s shift in attitude.
The man became a lot more territorial and protective over you. He would often insert himself in your regular routines, choosing to shadow you in training over video games and training on his own end. He just really craved the nice and sweet things you would say about his skill.
His feelings marinated for a short time before he came to the conclusion that you were more than just a “fan” of him! You were pretty cute too. He reached the height of his infatuation when you were dropping hints that you were beginning to see him as more than a mentor.
Suddenly, everything about you stuck out so much more. You weren’t just a faceless person spouting positive affirmations. He found your voice attractive and everything you wore looked great on you. He could see why Phoenix has been trying to get at you. Not anymore, though.
One morning, at the gun range, you had been practicing your aim. Even though you were already really good with Yoru’s mentoring, you wanted to see what you could accomplish on your own.
“(y/n).” A male voice emitted from behind you. It startled you and almost caused you to miss!
“Oh, Yoru. Good morning. I didn’t think anyone else would be up right now.” You smiled, kindly.
“I went to your bed. You weren’t there.” He remarked. He went to your room? Why was he there?
“Was there some training protocol this morning that I was unaware of? I thought we had off today.” You placed the ghost back on the gun rack and gave him your full attention.
“No, that’s not it.” He said, indicating that there was some sort of build-up going on.
He asked you out and simple enough you said yes!
Dating Yoru wasn’t easy, as you were expected to cheer him in and give positive affirmations. You didn’t compliment his headshot game!? Pathetic! You were blinking!? That’s no excuse!
Even though you were an initiator, he always insisted to go first as he constantly tried to impress you.
You kiss him for the first time when the two of you barely make it out of a mission which would’ve resulted in one of you dying. He plays it off because any deserving man gets kissed by hot girls all the time but on the inside, he’s got more anxiety from the kiss than the mission.
He lets you style his hair in the mornings or whenever the two of you are sitting around. He doesn’t say anything, only hands you his comb. Having other people touch his hair gives him goosebumps but he would never let just anyone do it. Soon, he just lets you do his hair all the time since you are able to replicate his usual style without the use of so much hair product.
It’s hard for him to replicate affection sometimes. Typically, you’re the one initiating fluffy things like hugs and kisses while he does more territorial things such as wrapping an arm around you as a subtle way of telling others people can’t talk to you.
When Yoru is jealous, he will insert himself into whatever is going on to make you pay attention to him. Even if you’re complimenting an agent that’s taken or is clearly only friends with you, he’ll go the extra mile to impress you. If you’re laughing and talking to someone like Phoenix, Chamber, or Sova, he intervenes and overloads you with things to talk about so that the previous one begins to fade.
“(Y/N), I need you at the Range.” “I want to see how much better you’ve gotten.” “I need you to look at this thing for me.” “(Y/N) has better things to do than talk to you.”
But you know Phoenix. He loves playing with fire. It’s his thing! Whenever he senses Yoru’s jealousy, he takes it as far as he can to entertain himself. He’s always been at it with Yoru so making it seem like you two are closer than usual is one of the ways he gets under his skin.
Yoru felt a new layer of jealousy when you had more interactions with Cypher. You would take to him about different technology and that made Cypher become more interested. He would act a bit mischievous with teasing and being cutesy with you. He even gave you a nickname.
Yoru would pull you away and won’t even hide that he’s jealous anymore. They were trying to take you away from him and he wasn’t going to let that happen. You made sure to give him a lot of reassurance, though.
“Yoru, you’re the only person I love talking to this way! You’re the only person I have eyes for.”
And his heart would just flutter. It was only a matter of time before one of you dropped a love bomb.
The first time he says that he loves you, it’s during the first fight the two of you have. In the beginning, you thought him getting jealous and upset at the others was cute because it shows his interest in you and it also shows that he is vulnerable. It just became a little overwhelming when he began to get bitter towards you.
“You know how I feel about you talking to Phoenix!”
“If Brimstone’s formation requires me to be with Phoenix then we have to kind of communicate, Yoru! I can’t ignore him.”
“Then why didn’t you switch with anyone? You could’ve asked anyone!
“My abilities are just better for helping Phoenix entry frag.”
The two of you would fight over this pointless argument all night until Yoru began getting more excessive and personal. It made you sad and you told him that if he keeps it up then you wouldn’t spend the night with him.
It was only then he realized that he was making it a little bigger than it needed to be. He wasn’t just infatuated with you or the fact that hype him up all the time. He was kind of in love with you.
A lot of times when he felt embarrassed around you, he would say different things in Japanese as a way of letting it out.
“ぼくは、あなたを愛しています”
You would gasp and furrow your eyebrows. “Yoru, you know I can’t understand when you say things in Japanese! I hope you’re not trying to tease me or be condescending because you’re bilingual but-“
“I said that I love you!”
The way it came out was unlike Yoru. It sounded incomplete and awkward. You caught yourself waiting for more but that was all he had to say. Your face turned a pink tint. “O-oh. I love you too.”

Yoru
You let out a sigh of relief as you felt Sage’s healing wash over you, leaning back against the wall of the aircraft. You had barely limped your way out of the site after defusing the spike, a hand pressed to your side attempting to staunch the bleeding. Luckily for you, Sova had discovered you huddled behind some crates with a broken communicator in your other hand and had helped you back onto the jet safely. You suffered from several bullet wounds, which Sage had patched up quickly. Your main concern was Yoru, standing across from you, refusing to look at you.
You turned to Sage, nodding to her, “Thanks a lot, but uh, would you mind leaving me and Yoru alone?” Sage laughed softly, understanding immediately what was going on, “Call me back if anything else hurts,” she said exiting to head to the cockpit. You grunt softly, pulling yourself up as you glare over at Yoru. “A little thank you would be nice? I saved your life,” you scowled. Yoru stood up, his arms crossed over his chest, “Saved my life? There’s no point if you’re dead because of it,” he shot back at you. “What’s your problem? I defused the spike, didn’t I? A few bullet wounds aren’t anything on me if it means that I completed my objective. If it hadn’t been for me distracting them from you in your ult, they would have run you down and killed you. I don’t get why this is such a big deal,” you huffed. Yoru was silent as he stared down at you, “Are you serious…?” his voice was dangerously low, his anger barely suppressed, “A few bullet wounds? What would you have done if they had headshot you? Where would you be then? You’d be dead.” “I don’t get why this matters to you! You’re always going on and on about how you’d function better on your own and how you can always handle yourself! This isn’t just about you! Why do you care so much? One person’s death doesn’t matter if it gets the job done!” you yelled at him, feeling your anger and frustrations spilling out. You hated being babied, especially by the other agents, his actions were just rubbing salt in a wound. Yoru mumbled something in Japanese, looking down, his ears lightly tinted pink. “What, if you’re gonna yell at me more just say it clearly so I don’t have to do any detective work,” you grumbled. “I said,” Yoru started before letting out a sigh, “I care because I love you dammit. If you died, I don’t know what I would do with myself.” Then all was quiet. The only thing you could hear was the humming of the aircraft and the whirring of the ventilation. You stared at him in disbelief, your mind blank from shock. “What?” your voice was quiet as you stared at him, unsure of what to say. “Whatever, it doesn’t matter anymore,” he grumbled, his expression slightly saddened, “I’m leaving,” he said, turning away from you. “Now wait for just a second,” you growl, stepping on his toes so he couldn’t move away. “Yoru look at me,” you said, grabbing his face, forcing him to look at you, “Did you…did you really mean what you meant?” you asked, still not believing what you heard. Yoru scoffed softly, looking down at you, a light blush on his face, “I wouldn’t just say all that to just anyone,” he huffed, “I meant every word. You mean the world to me Y/N. 愛している.” You brushed a stray strand of hair out of his face, trying to suppress the bubbly feeling you felt. “I’m sorry,” you mumbled sheepishly, getting off of his toes, “Did I scare you?” “Of course you did,” he responded right away, “When you hadn’t returned back to the jet and weren’t responding to your coms, I was tempted to go out myself to look for yourself. If Sova hadn’t brought you back,” he shuddered, “I don’t even want to think about it. Just…can you promise me that you’ll be more careful in the future? I can’t keep cleaning up after you every time.” You smiled, intertwining your fingers with his, “Oh so now you’re doing something about the unspoken thing between us? Took you long enough,” you teased him, wincing slightly as a sharp pain jolted through you. “Shut up,” he scowled, pulling you close to him, “I said what I needed to.” “If you two are finished, we’ve landed,” Sage said, poking her head out of the cockpit, followed by Sova and Raze. “Yeah, we’re coming,” you called to them, grinning at Yoru, tugging him along. “Come on, we don’t want to be left behind.” “Right behind you.”
Sova
“I told you to wait for me finish scouting ahead before leaping in,” Sova shook his head, sighing in irritation. You had never seen him so agitated, even when you had done it before. Fortunately you would make it out mostly unscathed with the exception of a few bruises here and there. This time, however, you weren’t so lucky. While you were clearing site ahead of Sova, a few mirror agents had somehow made their way behind you wounding you before you could react. You had barely dove out of the way and into cover as they bombarded you with utility and bullets. The rest of your team had managed to clean up the fight you started, and all while preventing the spike from being planted. You had never really thought about what death might be like but in the moment you felt awfully close to it. “Look Sova, I appreciate the concern but I can handle myself,” you scoffed, pushing yourself up and onto your feet. “See? I’m all better, Sage healed me, so can you please move out of the way so we can both go to the debrief meeting with no issues?” You said, trying to manuever around him but was stopped. “No,” he said, a hand held out, “Listen to what I have to say first.” You huffed impatiently, taking a step back crossing your arms over your chest. “Fine, I’m listening. What is it?” Sova gently tugged you towards him, examining you, his face full of concern. ”What would you have done if Sage was not on this mission? Or even if Skye couldn’t have made it in time? Tell me Y/N, what would you do then?” You tugged your hands out of his grasp, barely suppressing your anger, “What, you stopped me so you could just tell me an ‘I told you so’? Sova, I know what I’m doing I don’t need you to watch over me all the time. It’s literally our jobs to go in, defuse the spike, and save the day!” You huffed in agitation turning away from him. “Why do you care so much? We’re nothing more than co-workers. Collateral doesn’t mean anything in our line of work, so I suggest you stop acting like you really are worried about me.” “But I truly am, because I love you,” Sova responded, his eyes burning into you, “I’ve come to care for you more than a friend should, and…that scares me.” You stopped struggling against Sova, blinking up at him in confusion. “Wait…you love me?” your voice was quiet as you felt yourself shuddering softly, from disbelief or from shock, you didn’t know. “I do,” Sova affirmed, gazing earnestly at you, “But if you do not share the same feelings as I do, that’s alright.” You pressed a finger to his lips, stopping him, as you hesitated unsure of what to say next. “So…you’re really not lying to me?” Sova shook his head, once again taking your hand in his. “Oh,” your face was flushed lightly as you looked away from him, “Well, uh, I suppose you’ll be pleasantly happy to hear that I feel the same as you,” you mumbled, your anger from earlier fading. Sova’s face broke out into a gentle smile as he laughed softly, “Thank you,” he said pressing his forehead against yours, “Just…please be more careful in the future. Wait for me to get some eyes on the area.” “No promises.”

There were days when you felt unattainable, when you felt like nothing could surprise you. Today was definitely not one of these days. Your jaw dropped at Yoru sudden but simple request :
"Kiss me."
Well, it was technically more of a command than a request but your brain was lagging too much by its sudden abruptness to notice. After a few seconds, your brain activity started again and you noticed the silence in the common room that followed his request—command. There was a certain determination in his eyes that you did not miss as well as the tension in his posture and his clenched jaw. His ego was hurt.
"Yoru," you sighed. "Ryo, my spiky blue rift-walking grumpy cat... what happened ?"
You face slowly turned towards Jett as your question left your lips. Your eyes narrowed on her as she avoided eye contact. Your gaze then fell on Phoenix who nervously looked away. What did these two do ? A bet ? Something that clearly hurt him, which led his ego to intervene in order to protect his heart.
"Or let me kiss you," he added, his eyes not leaving you.
Your gaze looked back at him as he took a step closer. He wanted a kiss. In front of the other agents. A kiss ? He hated PDA, something was fishy.
"Please ?"
Now that was even more fishy. He usually asked 'please' with his eyes and a waiting facial expression, not vocally. Humming softly, you sent a narrowed glare at Jett and Phoenix, grabbed Yoru's wrist and dragged him in the corridor without forgetting to close the door behind you.
"Now, can you tell me what's happening ?" you asked gently.
He stayed quiet as he leaned against the wall, crossed his arms while looking away, a frown on his face. He seemed like he did his best to avoid your eyes. But you knew better. You knew he was hurt.
"Is it something Jett or Phoenix told you ?" you took a step closer. "Should I punch them ?"
Yoru sighed as he let his arms falling to his sides.
"Am I a good boyfriend ?"
Your eyebrows raised in surprise as you blinked at his sudden question.
"What ?"
"Do you think I'm a good boyfriend ?"
For the first time since you met him, you heard a crack in his usually confident voice. Despite the facade he was putting, he looked so fragile.
"You always say that I'm grumpy and that I have a big ego," his eyes still refused to meet yours. "PDA makes me uncomfortable and I'm not good at expressing my feelings vocally. Aren't you tired of me ?"
You stared silently at him. Then after a few seconds, you stepped closer and pinched his cheek.
"Silly," you said gently. "Would a bad boyfriend ask me this ?"
You pinched his other cheek and pulled him closer. He let you do it, his eyes finally landing on you.
"You are grumpy, cocky and sometimes so full of shit," you cupped his face and soothed his cheeks with your thumbs. "You also listen to me ranting, support me on anything I do, protect me during missions and show me that you care in so many ways." You gently nuzzled your nose against his and smiled softly. "Ryo, you're a man of action. What you can't say in words, you often say it through your actions and it feels so much more powerful than words... So no, I am not tired of you and I never will. Now that we're together, your grumpy ass will not get rid of me so easily."
You booped his nose and chuckled when he scrunched it. He suddenly hugged you, burying his face in the crook of your neck and you heard him muttering something in his native language. You caressed his nape then gently pinched it.
"You're insufferable, you know that ?" he huffed against your skin.
"Deal with it."
He finally released you and it was his turn to pinch your cheeks, his teasing and confident smile back on these lips that you kissed so many times.
"Ow !"
"You didn't think you would pinch me without any consequences, did you ?"
You scrunched your nose then grabbed his cheeks to gently squeeze them, making him purse his lips in a ridiculous and exaggerated way.
"I love you too."
He raised an eyebrow but said nothing. Instead, he just pressed a quick but loving peck on your lips. You didn't mind his silence. You will wait until he's ready to use words. You almost missed the light blush coloring his skin.
"I'll still have a serious conversation with Jett and Phoenix though," you added and Yoru only rolled his eyes, knowing that he couldn't stop you.

Hello I hope you’re having a good day/night!
Not sure if your looking for request or ideas but thought I’d throw this out there in case you are.
Yoru and reader who recently got together get into an argument because he hardly acknowledges her in front of the others. Reader thinks it’s because he is ashamed of her. While in truth Yoru is just anxious about getting teased or causing reader to have a bad reputation or anything like that.
Anyways reader goes on a mission a few hours later, still angry, and gets seriously hurt. Once Yoru finds out, he freaks out. Angst to hurt/comfort
If you don’t like this then that’s fine and I don’t blame you at all XD.
Are you KIDDING ME? I LOVE THIS IDEA. But damn, ya’ll like angst a lil too much it’s concerning. Thankfully I enjoy making them so that makes me worse. We’re all mentally ill here in the imkillerbae blog. And yes, I am looking for requests. Keep requesting!! It keeps me motivated.
Weak (Part 1) (Valorant Yoru x Fem!Reader)
Part 2
You picked your loadout for the mission, gripping the Vandal with so much force you can hear your gloves grinding against the metal, scratching the paint. You huffed and forced the clip inside the gun with a smack from your wrist, strapping it to yourself. Your eyebrows were still furrowed, ears almost releasing steam. Harbor and Viper look at each other, then back at you.
“Is everything alright kid?” Harbor asks with a smile, concerned. You blow your hair away from your face and clutch the gun tightly. “Yeah,” you spat.
Fuck Yoru. Fuck him. I hope he chokes on his own ego.
You thought it was a good thing, to leave for a mission carrying anger with you. You could’ve used it against the mirror agents, maybe shoot Yoru’s double in the head for good measure. But as fate would have it, that wasn’t the case.
A few hours ago, there was a mission briefing on the 3rd floor, in a large room with chairs placed around a long oval table. Large monitors were positioned on every side, as well as mission briefing papers. You were late because you had to attend to some personal needs of yours. Little did you know, the others that came too early were discussing something else.
“What did Brim say about Raze though?” You heard Phoenix ask. You hide behind the doorway and listen, smiling to yourself. You wanted to spook them.
“Well, let’s say that he wasn’t too happy at first. Not because he doesn’t support us, but because he doesn’t think it’s smart to have relationships with fellow agents. But of course, we know how much of a loverboy that old man is.” KJ giggled.
“Really? He’s not into us dating each other? That seems unfair.” Phoenix complains, and you can almost hear him pout. “It’s a big risk. A collapse in a relationship between people has a ripple effect. It’s not as linear as you think.” Sova comments.
“Well what about you and Y/N, Yoru? Does Brim know? At least he has a clue about me and Jett. Haven’t heard any comments though.”
As you heard that, you blushed. You and Yoru only started dating 2 weeks ago. Well, dating in its broadest sense. You and him shared mutual feelings for each other for a long time now, maybe even ever since you got into the protocol.
“Still below me in target practice? Cmon Y/N, I know you can do better,” he would tease, laying his elbow on your head just to further humiliate you with your shortness. You try to punch his side playfully, and he dodges, smirk getting wider.
“Wipe that smirk off of your face. You haven’t seen the last of me yet Yoru.” You rolled your eyes, smiling before turning to the range. “Wipe if off for me then,” he huffs, bending down and smiling to your face. You didn’t know whether you wanted to punch him or kiss him. Maybe a bit of both.
Somehow your banter turned into flirting, and before you knew it, he was confessing his love for you. That was two weeks ago, when you were both assigned to scout an area. You’ve known him for a while now, and you always knew him as curt and upfront. But that day, you saw him as someone who was shy, someone who was scared of his own heart.
“Sumanai. I don’t know why I feel this way, and I don’t wanna hassle you. But I can’t keep this to myself anymore. I’ve been meaning to tell you that I love you Y/N. I love you.”
Most importantly, someone who gathered up the courage to be vulnerable enough to hand their heart to someone else.
“We’re not a thing,” Yoru replied coldly to Phoenix, and you heard your heart shatter from the piercing words.
“Huh? Wait I thought you two were dating,” KJ sounded surprised, mainly because you told her everything about you and Yoru. “No? We’re not dating, where did you even get that idea.” He huffs, crossing his arms. “I don’t know? You guys are inseparable, you always look for each other, the nicknames? That kinda gave it away,” Phoenix reasons.
“Nope, nothing’s going on between us. Cmon guys, don’t be crazy.” You decided that you’ve heard enough and came out from behind the wall, smiling with gritted teeth. You didn’t see it, but Yoru tensed immediately as he heard you speak. You give them a smile, taking your seat next to Sova.
“Alright, ready up! Everyone take their seats,” Brimstone enters the room, Viper beside him. Sage was on vacation, you suddenly remember.
“Y/N?” KJ calls, eyeing you. Are you okay? She says with her eyes, and you nod. “Oh man, sorry, I didn’t mean to stir anything here. Was just curious, I swear.” Phoenix held his hands up as he sensed how tense Yoru was. He just made a huge mistake. He didn’t mean for you to hear those lies he made up.
He stood from his seat on the table to sit next to you but he was immediately stopped. “Gekko! Can you sit next to me please? I wanna play with Wingman before I deploy. To calm the jitters ya know?” You smiled at the green haired boy, and he eagerly smiles back. “Sure! Wingman likes you a lot anyways. Save me a seat buddy!” He releases Wingman, and he dashes across the table, saving the seat for Gekko. For a moment, you met eyes with Yoru, and he gave you a glare, while you returned it with a side-eye.
Yoru instead sits across you, but during the entire meeting, you did not look at him. You only hugged Wingman as he slept in your arms, listening to Brimstone and Gekko’s flustered mess of jokes. Yoru in turn just sat there, miserable, watching you flirt with a tennis ball. He wanted to kick Gekko’s head off his shoulders at that moment.
After the meeting, you immediately stood up from your seat (after excusing yourself from Gekko and Wingman of course) and quickly walked to the elevator, trying to avoid Yoru. He catches up with you as you enter it, pressing on the B1st floor button rapidly. As it closes, he slips in a teleportation orb in the elevator. And before you could blink, he was already towering over you.
“Don’t talk to me,” you spat, glaring at him with so much anger you could burn a hole in between his eyes. Your eyes watered as you glared, fists clenched and ready to hit him if he ever took a step closer. His look softens. He didn’t mean to hurt you.
“Y/N, listen—”
“Listen? Seriously?! I listened plenty an hour ago! ‘We’re not a thing,’ then what are we? What am I? Some sort of toy you play with when it’s convenient?”
“No you’re not. Listen, I didn’t want them to know—”
“I know damn well why. I’m not as strong as Skye, or as pretty as Neon. I’m the girl you settled for. I’m not enough to inflate that huge ego of yours.”
“What?” Now he was also getting angry, the blood rising from his neck. “Hang on, what the fuck are you implying? That I’m ashamed of you?” His voice rises, a fist landing above your head with a loud bang. You flinch, but don’t let it show.
“As if that wasn’t obvious already. You barely acknowledge me anytime we’re with the others but morph into someone else when we’re alone. Someone I don’t even think exists anymore.” You held back your tears as best as you can, voice quivering.
“You’re crazy,” Yoru accuses, and you gasp. The nerve of this asshole!
“Crazy? That’s rich coming from someone who confessed one minute and the next, he pretends I don’t exist.”
“When did this become about me? I’m trying to explain—”
“It’s always been about you! You, you, you! You’re selfish, egocentric and fucking heartless! I can’t even understand how you say ‘I love you’ without knowing the meaning of the word.” You snap at him, breathing hard.
He stares at you, eyes dark and clouded. He slowly retracts his arm and backs away from you, standing with closed fists. His blood was boiling in his head, he wanted to yell back. But he loved you too much to say anything hurtful. Why couldn’t you see that? And did you really see him that way?
The elevator chimes, and the door opens. It hangs there for a while until he spoke. “Fine. Think whatever the hell you want. I don’t care.” He says with gritted teeth. He quietly steps out of the elevator, leaving you there, silently weeping.

Hi Freak!
May I request [Hurt/Comfort] Headcanons of Valorant Agents: Yoru, Phoenix and Gekko (Separately) react to Agent![S/O] [Romantic] [Gender Neutral] saving them by taking a bullet during a mission?
The ending is positive as [S/O] survived the gun wound.
A/n: Sorry I totally over read that these were supposed to be headcanons, I hope this is still fine and thank you for the request.
Yoru
The mission had gone sideways fast. You hadn’t even thought, your body just moved. One second, Yoru had been in the line of fire, and the next, you had thrown yourself in front of him. The sound of the bullet tearing through flesh barely registered before you hit the ground.
"Oi—!" His voice was sharp, panicked, something you weren’t used to hearing from him.
Your head spun as you tried to ground yourself, but the pain in your side was making it hard to think. Yoru was suddenly at your side, hands pressing against your wound as his usual cocky expression turned into fear.
"You idiot, what the hell were you thinking?" His voice wavered, and you could see the way his hands trembled despite how firmly he was applying pressure.
"Didn’t… think," you managed to say, forcing a weak grin. "Just moved."
Yoru clicked his tongue, his gaze darting around as he activated his comms. "We need a medic, now!" His voice was sharp, urgent, the panic showing through.
Your vision blurred, but you could still make out the crease between his brows, the way his jaw tightened like he was barely holding himself together. He muttered something in Japanese under his breath, something you could only assume was a curse.
"Hey," you reached for his wrist, squeezing weakly. "You okay?"
He scoffed, shaking his head. "You get shot, and you’re asking if I’m okay? You’re an idiot."
But he didn’t let go of your hand. Even when the medics arrived, even when they pulled you away, he stayed right beside you.
When you woke up in the infirmary hours later, groggy but alive, Yoru was still there, arms crossed, trying to look unbothered. But when your eyes met his, relief flickered across his face.
"Next time, don’t pull that heroic crap," he muttered, glancing away. "Not if it means losing you."
You smiled, squeezing his hand again. "Can’t make any promises."
He huffed, but he didn’t let go.
Phoenix
"Stay with me!"
Phoenix’s voice barely cut through the ringing in your ears. Heat radiated from him, his flames flickering at his fingertips as he tried to keep pressure on your wound. It burned, but you barely registered it over the throbbing pain.
You had shoved him out of the way, taken the bullet that was meant for him, and now you were paying the price.
"That was bloody stupid," he muttered, his usual carefree tone nowhere to be found. His grip tightened. "You didn’t have to do that."
You exhaled a weak chuckle, wincing. "Reflex."
"Yeah, well, your reflexes suck," he shot back, but the shake in his voice betrayed him. "You scared the hell out of me."
His hand felt hot against your skin, but you could tell he was holding back. He wanted to be able heal you, but that was outside of his ability. You needed real medical attention his heart hammering in his chest as he waits for Sage to arrive.
The others arrived moments later, Sage immediately stepping in to assess the damage. Phoenix didn’t move from your side. His hand hovered near yours, hesitant, before he finally just grabbed it.
"Don’t do that again, alright?" His voice was quieter now, his usual grin nowhere in sight. His thumb brushed over your knuckles absentmindedly. "Can’t have you pulling reckless stunts like that."
You squeezed his hand, offering a small smirk. "No promises, hotshot."
He exhaled a breathless laugh, shaking his head. "You’re lucky I like you."
Gekko
Gekko had never moved so fast in his life. One second, everything was fine, and the next, you were in front of him, a sharp gasp leaving your lips as a bullet tore through your side.
"No, no, no—" His voice cracked as he caught you before you could hit the ground. The sound of gunfire was distant now, drowned out by the pounding in your head.
Dizzy, you tried to focus on his face, on the way his eyes were wide with panic. "Hey, I—"
"Shh, don't talk," he interrupted, shaking his head. He cradled you carefully, like you might break, his other hand frantically reaching for his comms. "I need help here! They’re hurt, I—I don’t know how bad—"
Dizzy anxiously rolled down from his shoulder, while Wingman patted at your arm like he could somehow fix the wound himself.
"You’re gonna be fine, okay?" Gekko's voice wavered, but his grip on you was firm. "You—you saved me. You—" He exhaled sharply, blinking fast. "Why’d you do that, man?"
You mustered a weak smile. "Reflex."
His breath hitched, and he shook his head. "You—you can’t do that. Not for me."
You managed to squeeze his hand. "I’d do it again."
A tear slipped down his cheek before he could stop it, and he quickly wiped it away. "That’s not funny," he mumbled. "You’re not leaving me, alright?"
Before you could answer, Sage arrived, quickly assessing your wound. Gekko stayed at your side, his fingers gripping yours like a lifeline.
Even when you woke up in the infirmary, weak but alive, he was still there, your hand still in his.
"You scared me," he admitted softly.
You squeezed his hand. "Sorry."
He exhaled, a shaky smile forming on his lips. "Just… don’t do it again, yeah?"

ah i'm so sorry about that! i didn't finish typing out my thoughts completely~
how about a clingy yoru oneshot?
[A/N: Hello darling, thank you for loving my writing, I am very happy that you enjoy the content that I create. And I'm gonna guess that you were distracted by these two handsome men, that's why you didn't finish typing out your thoughts. Thank you for making a request. You may ask again for more.]
Scenario of Clingy Yoru with a Gender Neutral Agent s/o
You sighed exasperatedly, your arms crossed above your chest as your eyebrow twitched at the fact that Yoru's head was laying in your lap, his nose nuzzling your thigh. You hadn't got work done-you needed to write a report on the last mission and send it to Brimstone, you also needed to go to Sage for your regular check-up, not to mention, you wanted to cook breakfast for the protocol. All of that; all of those duties had been neglected all because of the big lump of blue contentedly clinging to you. Yoru had whined for your attention which drove you insane, ending up with you and him in your room, doing nothing but be in each other's presence. "Come on, brighten up. You get to hug cuddle and kiss this cool boyfriend." He said, looking at your angry face. You raised your brow, "What if I don't want to hug?" He smiled, smugly, "Nothing you can do about it~" You groaned in anger and annoyance, wanting to throw the Japanese off a cliff. On another hand, you DID want to cuddle your boyfriend, for weeks now. Everytime you had asked, he was either busy or training or looking for his ancestors. There was never a good time. You sighed, defeatedly and tiredly. Sinking in into the makeshift fort you two had built, your hands carding through his hues of blue hair, enjoying the silky feeling of it. It wasn't so bad after all.

Contradictions
Yoru doesn’t always mean what he says.
YORU (RYO KIRITANI) X GN!READER // established relationship, fluff, flustered Yoru, a little bit of him being a tsun lol. Jett makes a cameo. // ~0,4k words // available on AO3
i'm feeling THINGS and i'm making it everyone's problem
“You’re an idiot,” Yoru grumbled as he smoothed the bandaid against your forehead. It wasn’t a deep cut — just an accidental scrape, but it amused you to see him this annoyed with you over something so minuscule.
You smiled dreamily, peering up at him through your lashes. “It got you to pamper me. I consider this a win.”
“Worrying me is a win?” He sighed and sat down beside you. He cast you a sidelong glance and clicked his tongue in disbelief. “Did hitting your head kill all your brain cells too?”
You shrugged half-heartedly and rested your head on his shoulder as he gave your thigh a comforting squeeze.
“Maybe.”
“Idiot,” he repeated, softer this time.
“You love me.”
Yoru rolled his eyes in response. “Yeah. I do.”
You fell into a comfortable silence with him, intertwining your fingers with his while you nuzzled his shoulder with a satisfied sigh.
Jett poked her head in through the gap of the ajar door. “Hey, can I borrow your—”
She cut her sentence short and stopped, eyes widened in surprise. Then, her lips curled into a mischievous grin, clearly amused at what she was seeing.
“Hand-holding, huh?” she snickered. “You’re a total softie.”
Yoru groaned. You couldn’t help but smile along with her, finding the situation as mirthful as she did. It wasn’t often that you get to see Yoru flustered. Though he was mostly his usual composed self, the tips of his ears betrayed the scowl on his face.
Cute. You hadn’t noticed that about him before.
“Yeah,” you replied, breaking into a giggle. “He’s so cute, isn’t he?”
He turned to look at you, offended. “Why are you joining her?”
“I’m sorry!” you whined playfully. “I can’t help it. You’re too cute.”
Giving up on fighting back for now, all Yoru did was huff at you using his words against him. He knew very well how cheeky you were. Still, he could never get used to it.
Idiot, he thought again, affectionately.
You looked back at Jett and smiled warmly. “What did you need?”
“Just wanted to borrow your raincoat.”
“Oh, yeah. Go for it!”
As she picked up the article, her gaze fell on you and she smirked again. “Enjoy your quality time with lover boy.”
You beamed at her. “Will do.”
Her laughter faded as she disappeared down the hallway, leaving you and Yoru by yourselves once more.
“Come on, big guy. Stop sulking,” you said through giggles. “It’s not like she doesn’t know we’re together.”
“First you get hurt and now you tease me,” Yoru grumbled. “I’m leaving.”
His arm slithered around your waist and pulled you close. Your lips curled in mirth, happily snuggling closer to him.
“Sure, babe. Whatever you say.”

Wouldn't it be funny if Yoru, a grumpy, angry, gtfo of my face typa guy, literally dating an ADHD s/o...haha.....so funny....(not self indulgent slash es ar es)

PAY ATTENTION TO ME!!!
: Yoru(Valorant) x gn!reader 💮 Fluff, Headcanons
: Yoru who has an s/o that had ADHD and is super hyper
: Light swearing if you squint

Opposites attract cliche (barf /j)
If Yoru is crushing on you then it's super obvious because he plays favorites
You can barge into his room, wake him up at 3 am because you wanted to eat his noodles and he'd just sigh, call you stupid, and get out of his bed to get you noodles as you jump around in giddiness
Yet whenever Jett teases him about his not so hidden crush for you, he gives her the most nastiest glare that screams bloody murder
"You're lucky we're on the same team, otherwise you'd be dead."
Yk I don't even know how yall got dating but oh well it happened and Yoru is kinda loving it (he won't admit it and call you stupid though)
Whenever you have any sort of hyperfixation on anything he'd definitely sit quiet and listen
He has that face where it seems that he's just trying your words pass through the other ear which kinda made you insecure and just stop talking so that you wouldn't be a bother
but in reality, he's just socially awkward since he's not used to talking a lot and is actually listening to every word you say. He just doesn't know how to act
"I was about to check my phone for new messages from Brim but found this TikTok that made the most cutest cat crochet plush and then I saw this huge bee plush so I maybe wanna try crochet one day and.."
".."
"..."
"...and? When are you gonna start crocheting?"
"!!! Oh my gosh okay so—!"
He can find himself smiling just by observing your random antics and silly actions but immediately cuts himself off cause he's in public (and Jett's teasing exists)
Probably has a specific drawer in his room that has all of the random stuff you give him
A rock you found on the street which you drew a :P face on it. A small yellow balloon filled with water that can be used as a stress ball. A shiny candy wrapper you randomly found in your pocket yesterday. And yes, you named all of them.
He's always >:( and you're always >:)
One time the both of you were on the same mission which required you to go to Japan and once you got there you immediately started running around staring at everything you found pretty
And he's just walking, trailing behind you from a close distance, sighing an amused smile
His way of speaking is also different between you and literally everyone else
He's more chill, quiet when he's with you since he likes it more when you initiate the conversations (and he likes your voice AYIE)
And when he does talk, it's mostly joking and teasing you for literally anything
Compared to others though, he's super snarky and has a cocky attitude. A huge difference to his more soft approach with you
Phoenix calls this out once which made Yoru roll his eyes, called him a dumbass, flipped him off, and walked off like nothing happened all while looking like a grumpy cat
He loves it when you fight back with his teasing
When you playfully roll your eyes at his jab and retort back with your own tease makes his heart beat hard at the fact that you're willing to play along with him
Definitely is smug and smirking all the way whenever you talk back with your own playful grin
He seems like a bitter food liker, probably downs black coffee and plain solid matcha like it's the most normal thing ever
Or maybe he has a hidden sweet tooth :/
Some times whenever you forget to eat because of hyperfixation, he drags you by the ear and forces you to eat </3
Even though you insist you aren't hungry he'll still call you a dumbass and force food down you're throat
When you walk into a room and suddenly forget what the hell you were doing in the first place, he always manages to understand your mannerisms to remind you what your objective was
It's cause he stares at you a lot hehehe

This was like...two years ago idfk why I didn't post it LMAO

after the mission

warnings: smut (idk what else).
a/n: I haven't published my works for quite a long time, so if there are mistakes or something you didn't like, let me know about it.
the mission was over and the whole team went to the headquarters to rest. Killjoy went to the workshop to fix the guys' weapons, Sage took the wounded with her, while Brimstone locked himself in his office and developed a new plan.
everyone was busy with something, only Yoru got carried away by someone. his hands tightly squeezed the girl's wrists, and his lips did not open until the air ran out.
"mm.. yeah... oh.."
the guy exhaled loudly while his cock was driven into your pussy, so that the moans became louder and louder each time. he growled, moaned along with you, Yoru always liked to have sex with you after the mission, so that then completely tired and exhausted you went to bed.
"look into my eyes.. look and whisper about how you love me..."
You couldn't refuse his orders and involuntarily began to quietly whine and say dirty phrases to your beloved.
Yoru was kneading your tits, doing it so roughly, but at the same time gently, so that it wouldn't hurt you. His breath was so hot and fast, it meant that he would cum soon.
"get on your knees..."
The guy sat you down and, continuing to jerk off his fat cock, he came hard in your dirty mouth. The thick sperm had a sweet taste, delicious and so beloved.
"good... good... and now.."
Compared to you, Yoru has more strength, so he was able to easily lift you up and put you on the bed, so that he could then go down to your pussy himself. If he cummed earlier, then he gives you the same orgasm by any means. hands stroked your body, gently, tenderly, while his skillful tongue licked your sweet pussy. moans grew so loud that they echoed off the walls of the room.
"more.. moan my name..."
"Yoru.. yes... please... I'm going to cum soon.."
the guy used his tongue so skillfully that stars from pleasure appeared before your eyes.
"cumming.. I'm... cumming!"
Yoru pressed himself as close to your pussy as possible for the last time to lick every last drop, while your body trembled from orgasm, and your fingers grabbed his hair.
"you are as beautiful as always, my love..."
He got up and lay down next to you, covering you with a warm blanket, while hugging you tightly and kissing your neck.
You both waited for this moment to dissolve in pleasure and each other's presence.

Caught Making Out With Their S/O (Valo men edition)
Words: 513
Request: Could I request the “caught making out with their s/o” but for valo men instead 🙏🙏 cypher, omen, Yoru, gekko, etc etc 👁️👁️
As if this man would ever get caught, but if he did;
It’s a moment of intimacy, having shoved you into his room, desperate for some sort of attention after you’ve been gone for weeks on a mission.
Hands reaching for anything he can get, sneaking under your clothing to feel your flesh.
His mask had been pulled up just enough to free his mouth, letting him gravitate towards your neck.
Sucking marks along it, while your hands felt over his shoulders and masked head. Ready to pull the rest off only for the door to open.
Pushing each other away as Cypher pulled his mask down, you both tried to look somewhat presentable, which was much easier for Cypher.
In the doorway stood Sage, who had a small folder in her hands. Without a word from anyone she placed it on a nearby surface before leaving, making sure the door shut behind her.
“Do you think she’ll say anything to anyone?” “She wouldn’t, but she might call you to the infirmary.” “Because of you!”
I’m not really sure how this would work… But anyways!
His hands searched past the fabric to find skin, calming slightly when he felt your warmth.
All while your own cupped his face, feeling and watching wisps flare out, some lingering on your fingers.
Leaning forwards to leave soft kisses across his face, his stripes lighting up.
But in your soft moment you somehow missed the door opening, luckily the person who entered was kind enough to not say anything.
They left what they needed to before shutting the door behind them.
Only when you two pulled away and caught sight of the object did you become embarrassed.
You hope they don’t say anything.
This man could not care less if you two are seen, at least that’s what he looks like. Inside he’s kinda jealous that someone else got to see you like this.
Having pulled you away from the others for whatever reason it was this time, he wasted no time in trapping you in a heated kiss.
His hands held your cheeks while yours held his, quickly becoming breathless.
As the door opens Yoru pulls away, giving you a chance to finally catch your breath.
There stood Jett, almost dropping her device before dashing away, loudly calling for phoenix.
He’s already shy enough about making out, but that doubles if there's any chance of being caught.
Another one who has to have his hands all over you, doesn’t matter how much breath you’ve stolen from him, he will start whining if you don’t let him touch you.
The reason you two get caught is likely this ^.
As he reached out for you, you caught his hands. He started whining and complaining, wanting to feel more of you.
Both of you jumped when the door opened, not pulling away fully due to your hands still intertwined.
Finding Reyna standing in the doorway, her questioning look turned in a glare after catching you two in the act, before turning into a smug smile.
“Be careful you two.”

Yoru was a grumpy guy. That was a fact accepted by everyone. You were already used to see him rolling his eyes or huffing in annoyance. It was part of his character and it amused you. But you soon discovered that Yoru was worse when he was sick.
"Told you to cover yourself better for that mission, silly," you sighed.
"Shut up." he coughed.
Sage had given you strict instructions to help taking care of him. The poor duellist caught a very nasty cold that pinned him to bed. He could not move without having striking muscular pain, he had a severe fever that made him sweaty and blushed his skin like you've never seen before and he had a sore throat that made his voice hoarse.
"You need to eat first before taking these medicines," you explained gently as you wiped the sweat off his forehead. "I brought you soup. Easy to swallow and warm for your throat."
He sat up, a grimace on his face, and winced when he reached for the bowl. You could read on his facial expression all the pain his body was putting him through.
"I can feed you if you want."
If you weren't used to his antics, the glare he shot you with would have killed you. He was about to throw a snarky remark but his throat interrupted him with a wet cough. Shrugging, you presented the spoon to his lips.
"Aaaah."
You were only amused by the offended look he had in his eyes. If anything, you were basking in the heat of his glower. What he would not admit, was that he was very grateful for your presence and help. You did not leave him alone, you took care of him and that was enough to make his cold heart melt.
"I'll draw you a bath, later," you murmured when he finally accepted the spoon in his mouth. "The warmth of the water should soothe your muscle pain."
Yoru was too prideful to admit out loud that your warmth was enough. Too prideful to admit that beneath his grumpy exterior, he was thankful to have you with him. He was already bathing in your care and he was silently grateful for that.

He loves hates you; Yoru x Reader
Yoru claims he hates you, so why do you still love him?
Warnings: Yoru is mean, mention of being hurt by a partner
You and Yoru were once friends, but something changed one day, and he decided that he hated you. You had no idea what had happened or what you had done, but he seemingly hated you and wouldn’t tell you why.
Little did you know, he didn’t actually hate you. Yoru had realised that he had developed feelings for you and was terrified so he decided to push you away so he wouldn’t get hurt.
The two of you went from talking every day to him glaring at you every time he saw you. In his mind, he had to make it realistic, no matter how much your sad face hurt him.
However, even when you two weren’t talking, the feelings he harboured for you never faded, much to his dismay. It was annoying him; the urge to always protect you when you two were working together had him watching you more than the enemies and unable to properly focus; he didn’t even want to rift-walk in case you got hurt.
Despite having harshly cut you off, Yoru couldn’t help but feel extremely hurt when you got a boyfriend.
He was some civilian or something, he didn’t want care enough to find out.
No, he didn’t listen to Phoenix and Jett talk about it whilst pretending to be annoyed, what are you talking about!?
He hated your boyfriend with a fiery passion. He wasn’t good enough for you, you deserved better. You deserve him, but he doesn’t deserve you, at least in his mind.
Yoru’s ‘hatred’ for you only grew worse since you got a boyfriend, leaving you even more confused and very hurt. You started to hate him too.
You hated his sudden feeling change, how he treated you, how he abandoned you just as you were going to confess to him… You hated him!!!!
So why did you end up in front of him after being beat up by your ex-boyfriend…?
“Who did this to you!?” You could see Yoru’s rage, no matter how hard he tried to appear calm. Naturally, you assumed it was because you had come to him.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know where else to go.” You sobbed.
He stood there with clenched fists, ready to kill whoever hurt you.
No, there’s something more important first. Someone more important. He thought and opened his door.
Wordlessly, you entered, and he told you to sit down whilst he went to grab some things to help clean your wounds.
“This is going to hurt.” He said before beginning to clean your wounds.
You two sat in silence for a while, only your occasional winces (which hurt him more than he’d like to admit) being heard.
“Ryo?” You broke the silence.
He tensed at the use of his real name. He missed hearing you say it…
“What?” Whilst he sounded blunt, he was genuinely curious what you had to say.
“Why do you hate me?”
That hurt him, yet he sighed, ignoring the question.
“Please tell me what I did wrong.” You whispered, tears falling down your cheeks.
“You didn’t do anything.”
“Then why won’t you talk to me anymore? Why do you treat me like dirt?”
Yoru dropped the equipment he was using.
“Because I love you, okay!? Are you happy now?” He snapped, immediately regretting speaking the moment he realised what he had said. “Forget it. You should go, I’m done.”
You were frozen in place as he tossed the cleaning rags in the trash.
It took a few moments for his words to sink in, but the moment they did, you immediately grabbed his hand and spun him to face you. Was he blushing…?
“I said forget it,” his words were supposed to be aggressive, but they just sounded sad…
“I love you too, Ryo. I always have.” Your words had his eyes widening.
“But why? Even after everything I did to you?”
You nodded.
“You really are an idiot,” he said, yet there was no malice behind his words, especially when there was the tiniest smile on his lips.
“Only for you,”
Yoru simply shook his head.
“Well, I suppose you could be my idiot. If you want that is?
